Both sides of the conversation, in the same meeting.
Joey is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®) on the wealth side and a Tax Manager at the parent CPA firm. That dual posture is unusual — and intentional.
Joseph "Joey" Maddux Jr. is a Financial Advisor at Cooper Norman Wealth. He holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®) designation along with the Series 66 securities license, and is licensed across Colorado, Idaho, and Utah.
Uniquely within the firm, Joey also wears a second hat as a Tax Manager at Cooper Norman, PLLC — the parent CPA firm. That dual posture is unusual, and intentional: it lets him sit on both sides of the wealth-and-tax conversation in the same client meeting, instead of relaying decisions across firm boundaries that often slow Idaho business owners down.
His client work centers on retirement-plan design for business owners — SEP-IRAs, solo 401(k)s, cash-balance plans, and pension consulting — alongside discretionary and non-discretionary portfolio management and financial planning that's tightly coordinated with the tax filings already happening in-house at Cooper Norman.
Joey studied at Brigham Young University–Idaho and Boise State University. He is based in the firm's Idaho Falls office on Riverwalk Drive.
